Hernando looked out at the bustling bar scene before him. He found it incredible that the bar could be so full of life, yet it could feel so empty. It was the absence of his regulars. The lot of them had been planning a vacation for years and it seemed like they had finally taken it, for Hernando hadn't seen them in four days. It wasn't a problem, except that he truly considered them his friends. His best friends, even. He hoped they would come back soon. He fantasized about the conversations they might have. He would get to hear of some far-off place, that was certain.

The door creaked slightly as the door that lead to the backroom/storage room of the bar was pushed open. Wiping her forehead, Saralee took a quick glance at her coworker, staring out at the near-empty bar with a far-off look in his eyes.
Saralee wasn't one-hundred percent sure whether he was deep in thought about something or just nodding off during his shift, and, since the latter might get him into trouble, she decided to snap him out of whatever he was doing. A slightly damp cleaning rag in one hand, Saralee tapped Hernando lightly on the shoulder with her free hand.
"Yo, Hernando," She began softly. "I can take it from here. I already cleaned the majority of the cups and whatnot, so you can go home if you're tired."
(( Fff, I was going to post this last night, but I seriously could not find out how to word this and sound remotely intelligent at 12am. XD ))

Hernando jumped slightly as he was brought back to reality. He looked at the girl beside him. "It's fine, Saralee. It's just slow around here until the weekend. Besides, I don't trust people with my keys," he took a ring of keys from his pocket and dangled them in front of Saralee's face. "It's not like I think you'd take them, but I'd hate for you to misplace them. It's better if I lose them because then I have no one to blame but myself, you see?" He pocketed the keys and looked back out at the room of the bar. He cleared his throat after a minute and commented, "The good thing about slow nights is that I don't have to pay as many bar tenders." He grinned and chuckled to himself.

Saralee rolled her eyes playfully. "Misplace the keys, eh?" She began with a mischievous tone. "Don't think I haven't forgotten about the time you misplaced them. We had to crawl through the back window, and I almost got stuck!" She laughed haughtily at the memory.
"Anyways," She continued lightly. "If you won't leave, then I will. Some people are smart enough not to overwork themselves." Saralee punctuated this by lightly smacking Hernando with her slightly damp rag on the top of his head. She then turned and started walking leisurely towards the door. "If you need anything, just give me a call." She opened the main entrance door and, with a small wave, shut the door behind her.

"I remember; I remember," Hernando assured, rubbing the back of his head with a grin across his face. He nodded as Saralee began to leave. "Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then." He waited until the door had shut before he returned to senselessly polishing glasses.
